Manifesto

For centuries, society has perceived introverts as outsiders. We are too quiet, too weird, too awkward. Arrogant and naive minds alike form an opinion of what a normal personality must be-social, outgoing, conversational. Introverted people have been made to feel like we must adjust our personality to better suit the extroverted. Enough is enough. Introversion does not mean lack of intelligence. Introversion does not mean impolite. Introversion is not lack of social skills. Introversion should not establish overall assumption of such a person. Here is what must be understood. Introverts are selective of when they choose to be social. Introverts should not have less opportunity because they refuse to initiate or engage in conversation. Though quiet, introverts process information internally and prefer to avoid discussing it verbally. Sometimes introversion may be a trait of some other manifestation therefore should not be penalized. It is time society stops the the toxic ideology that only those who are outwardly social are capable of brilliance and opportunity, no matter the environment. We demand the same regard as those that are extroverted. We demand our boundaries be respected.
